Turkish uses a Latin-script alphabet, although there are 29 different letters in comparison to the 26 used in English. The letters Q, W and X do not exist in the Turkish alphabet. However, seven letters have been modified from their Latin originals for the phonetic requirements of the language – Ç, Ş, Ğ, I, İ, Ö and Ü.
